ABC Academy - est. 2008
ABC Academy started so that I could teach my own kids and their friends, and has grown from a cute little preschool in my basement to another location, another teacher, and even a weekly gymnastics class! At this age, children are excited about learning even the littlest things. My job as a teacher is to encourage their enthusiasm and curiosity through hands on learning and exploration. Every child learns differently, and students are given lots of different types of activities and opportunities for learning. We use all of our senses to learn in order to be successful! We learn about letters and numbers, science and math, how to be a good friend and share, how to listen politely to a story, and even how to have fun and make a mess…and then clean it up! We focus on physical activity through gymnastics and gym time, art and music, and everything else to create well-rounded learners! Preschool gives each child a head start in their education that has life-time benefits!
Miss Sarah
My name is Sarah Kerr. I have been teaching for more than 23 years, and it’s the best job ever! I have my bachelors in elementary education, with a minor in early childhood education and special education. I have taught first grade and kindergarten, and I’ve owned my own preschool for twelve years. I’ve done private tutoring for kids from elementary to high school, and I’ve also taught English online for students in China. I love making learning fun! It’s fun for me and for my students! My teaching style is interactive and engaging, and I really feel like kids learn best when they are using all of their senses and know that I believe in them and that they can do it. I love seeing the light in their eyes when they “get it”, and they feel successful. I tell them all the time that I am their biggest fan, and it’s true! I have four children of my own, ages 21, 19, 17, and 15, and my husband is a high school counselor. Education is really important in our family! We’ve been married for 25 years, and we love doing house projects, painting any room I can, and cheering on our kids. We have a busy, full, sometimes chaotic, life, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Miss Jamie
My name is Jamie Dalton. This is my 7th year at ABC Academy teaching with Miss Sarah. I love preschool and all the exploring, learning and fun we get to have. I have taught gymnastics for 25+ years, and I love introducing our preschoolers to gymnastics. Helping them learn and master new tricks and gaining confidence is my favorite part of my job. I grew up in Orem, Utah, but have been in sunny St. George for 25 years. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 22 years, and we have 4 kids together, ranging from 10 to 20 years old. I love to travel and hang out by a pool with a Diet Coke. I love preschool, the sweet preschoolers and learning and growing together!
